Project Description: Amref-Tanzania in partnership with Amref Health Africa in Canada is implementing the Uzazi Mzima II project (Safe Deliveries II) from 2016-2020 in Simiyu Region Tanzania. The study is an expansion of BEmONC and CEmONC services at 24 selected health centres and dispensaries in Simiyu. As a part of the Canadian government’s initiative to improve accountability for its maternal and child health investments, the institute for international programs (IIP) at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHU) and IHI scientists are putting in place rigorous tools to evaluate maternal, neonatal and child health programs. This project will evaluate the implementation strength and quality of care of Amref-Tanzania’s Uzazi Uzima project in Simiyu and develop new methods to assess quality of care.
